Elisabeth MacNamara is the immediate past president of the League of Women Voters of the United States. She joined the League of Women Voters in 1983 and has served in leadership roles at the local, state, and national levels. She has served as president of the League of Women Voters of DeKalb County, Georgia; the League of Women Voters of Georgia; and from 2010 to 2016, as president of the national League. During her tenure as national president, the League of Women Voters engaged in a national campaign to protect and power the vote of every American eligible to vote. Professionally, Elisabeth is a lawyer in the state of Georgia. She received both her bachelors and juris doctoral degrees from Emory University in Atlanta. She served as felony prosecutor in DeKalb County, Georgia, from 1986 to 2010. Since 2004, Elisabeth has volunteered with the Georgia High School Mock Trial Program as an attorney coach at her local public high school.
