Supporters of Judicial Selection Reform in Minnesota Optimistic about 2013

Proponents of replacing Minnesota’s nonpartisan judicial elections with commission-based gubernatorial appointment, retention elections, and performance evaluation were pleased to see Democrats regain a majority in the legislature for 2013, believing that the reform movement lost momentum when Republicans took over in 2010. A broad-based, bipartisan group known as the Coalition for Impartial Justice spearheads the reform effort and is working to expand support on both sides of the aisle.
