Happy fall, everyone!

We don’t know about you, but fall has always been one of our favorite seasons. We love the warm colors of the leaves, the bonfire smells, and all the fun fall activities. And now that everyone is back from vacation and the bar year has kicked off, it seems to be go-go-go around here at IAALS and within the profession more generally!

It continues to be full speed ahead in certain segments of the regulatory innovation space. Innovation for Justice recently launched a new webpage that aggregates all the great work they continue to do, including creating new legal service models through regulatory reform. And Alaska Legal Services Corporation’s Community Justice Worker Program just received a $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation to further its work.

On the other side of the country, Legal Aid of North Carolina recently launched an Innovation Lab, the first in the country to be housed at a legal aid organization. Its mission is to engage in transformative innovation that improves the delivery of legal services, expands access to justice, and addresses inequity in the delivery of legal services in rural areas. You can learn more about the innovation lab in this episode of Talk Justice.

Finally, the next Redesigning Legal webinar, “Exploring the Legal Tech Market,” is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. MT on October 10. Learn more and register here. Also, ICYMI, we released our Community & Cooperation: Action Steps Toward Unlocking Legal Regulation report in August. This report distills the various conversations that occurred over the course of our June 2022 convening into key themes and recommendations for next steps aimed at bolstering existing regulatory innovation efforts and kickstarting new ones, and creating opportunities to engage new people and perspectives in the movement. Check it out if you haven’t already done so!
