In August 2008, judges, JPE coordinators, and experts from nearly 20 states attended Judicial Performance Evaluation: Strategies for Success, hosted by IAALS. This two-day conference featured two tracks of panel sessions, one focusing on building a JPE program from the ground up, and the other emphasizing advanced strategies for jurisdictions with existing JPE programs.

The forum was also extremely interactive as attendees asked speakers and others to provide guidance on specific challenges in their states. As one participant said, “All of the sessions were great, but to be face-to-face with other people who deal with the same issues and to talk about methods of addressing those issues was invaluable.”
