Helen M. Hierschbiel has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Oregon State Bar since January 2016. She started at the bar in December 2003, as one of the Client Assistance Office attorneys and Assistant General Counsel. She took the position of Deputy General Counsel in 2006 and became the OSB General Counsel in 2010.
Prior to working for the Bar, she worked at Dunn Carney Allen Higgins and Tongue in Portland, Oregon, and for DNA-Peoples Legal Services on the Navajo and Hopi Nations in Arizona. She received her JD from Lewis & Clark Law School in 1991, and is licensed to practice law in Oregon and Arizona (inactive). Her professional volunteer activities include service on the Multnomah Bar Association Board of Directors (2011-2014), on the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility Policy and Implementation Committee (2015-2019), on the International Institute for Law Association Chief Executives (IILACE) Program Committee (2021-2023), as the Secretary for the Western States Bar Conference (2019-2022), and on the St. Andrew Legal Clinic Board of Directors (2023-present).
