Rebuilding Justice Award
Each year, IAALS recognizes individuals and groups who exemplify the spirit of innovation and leadership at the heart of our work to build a legal system where everyone has a clear path to justice. The first recipient of the Rebuilding Justice Award was U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. Over the years, IAALS has given the award to chief justices of state supreme courts, legislators, federal district court judges, legal educators, philanthropists, and others. See the full list of recipients here.
In 2027, IAALS is proud to honor Chief Judge Anna Blackburne-Rigsby and Judge Maritza Dominguez Braswell, two judicial leaders from the state and federal systems who are reimagining how our courts work and how justice is delivered. Through visionary leadership, innovative approaches, and a commitment to meaningful, on-the-ground change, they are challenging the status quo and demonstrating what is possible for a more accessible, effective, and people-centered justice system.
These extraordinary judges are not only transforming their own courts but inspiring judges nationwide to lead with courage, embrace technology and innovation, and help ensure justice for all is a reality for everyone.
Alli Gerkman Legal Visionary Award
The Alli Gerkman Legal Visionary Award is designed to encourage and showcase innovators, risk takers, visionaries, and emerging leaders who bring a different perspective and a reform-minded approach to the improvement of our legal system, and who are early in their legal careers.
The 2027 awardee will be announced in January.
