Educating Tomorrow's Lawyers Adds Loyola University New Orleans College of Law to its Consortium of Law Schools

November 12, 2012

In the spirit of the Jesuit tradition, Loyola University New Orleans College of Law focuses on holistic education and strives to educate the whole law student and equip each with the skills and competencies necessary to be a functioning and confident professional on the day of graduation. A central part of their mission is to “educate future members of the Bar to be skilled advocates and sensitive counselors-at-law committed to ethical norms in pursuit of dignity for all.”

The College of Law recently formed the Office of Skills and Experiential Learning to modernize their Skills courses to include practicum style training and formal assessment through rubrics and curricular design. It includes a clinic that serves as an incubator for simulation design, which is then integrated in the skills curriculum or as experiential modules for doctrinal courses. Loyola also provides resources for faculty members in integrating experiential modules in course design.
