IAALS Ramps-Up Leadership in Research and its Rule One Initiative
Effective July 1, 2013, two current IAALS managers stepped up to lead their respective divisions. Corina Gerety has assumed the role of Director of Research and Brittany Kauffman is now Director of the Rule One Initiative. Gerety came to IAALS in the Spring of 2009 from the public sector, having worked for a number of years in the Office of the Colorado Attorney General. Previously, she had clerkships at the Colorado Supreme Court, Colorado's Second Judicial District Court, and the Office of the Presiding Disciplinary Judge. Kauffman joined IAALS in the Spring of 2012 after having practiced for eight years as a complex civil litigator. Previously, she served as a law clerk on the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
The IAALS Research Department supports all substantive initiative areas as needed, providing a broad range of research assistance—from simple consultation on research methods to comprehensive program evaluations. As Director, Gerety will oversee information gathering, analysis, collaboration, and presentation on long-term research projects. Two current projects include the evaluation of the Colorado Civil Access Pilot Project for Business Actions (Rule One Initiative) and the evaluation of the Resource Center for Separating and Divorcing Families (Honoring Families Initiative).
The Rule One Initiative serves to advance empirically informed models for court processes and procedures that provide greater accessibility, efficiency, and accountability in the civil justice system. As Director, Kauffman will provide legal and empirical research and analysis of existing practices, facilitate collaboration among stakeholders, assist in developing and disseminating recommended models, and undertake national outreach and advocacy.
We are thrilled to advance them both to positions of greater responsibility, commensurate with their significant skill sets and their past contributions to IAALS.
