Pitt Law’s innovative 1L curriculum emphasizes the development of professional competencies and professional identity, and the School actively promotes innovative teaching.
Pitt Law’s Innovation Practice Institute (IPI) is a unique partnership among the law school, local practitioners, and entrepreneurs in the community. It trains students to work with innovators and to think entrepreneurially themselves, as well as introducing students to the critical role that attorneys can play in regional economic development. The IPI also creates a platform for continuing education for local entrepreneurs and attorneys serving the innovation economy, and organizes academic lectures and conferences relating to innovation.

This group of nationally recognized teacher-scholars brings the law alive for Pitt Law students by challenging students to explore the relevance of law to the issues confronting our society.
