The New York times reviews the legal profession's failure to put women in leadership and judicial positions in the thirty years since Sandra Day O'Connor heard her first Supreme Court case.

While three women are on the Supreme Court, as of last year women made up only 22 percent of the federal judiciary and 26 percent of state judges. No state has equal representation of women on the bench.
