IAALS’ 17th Annual Rebuilding Justice Award Dinner was held on Thursday, April 10, in Denver, where we celebrated the 2025 Rebuilding Justice Award, Alli Gerkman Legal Visionary Award, and Founders Award honorees, and everyone who has joined together with IAALS to unlock justice innovation nationwide.

To help chart a better future for resolving business disputes, IAALS brought together leaders in business and the justice system to discuss the landscape of businesses’ justice needs and to craft new ways of meeting them. The ideas and solutions generated through this convening will spur innovative new models for businesses to more effectively and efficiently meet their legal needs.

How do we create a regulatory structure that allows us to take advantage of the opportunities that AI presents while also minimizing potential consumer harm? This convening brought national leaders together to discuss regulating the use of AI in the delivery of consumer-facing legal services.

The IAALS Lawyers Council is a national group of law firms and businesses whose members are invited to participate in IAALS’ work, to engage in our process, and to have a voice at the table of meaningful and impactful reform within the justice system.

Co-hosted with the Berkeley Judicial Institute, the 2024 summit brought together judicial leaders and change experts to provide interactive opportunities for peer collaboration. Building on this momentum, a 2025-2026 webinar series was launched to equip more judges with the practical tools and insights needed to drive meaningful innovation in the courts.

This convening included representatives from the seven states with active allied legal professional (ALP) programs. Through discussion and collaboration, we aimed to adopt general guidelines around reciprocity that can be shared and adopted nationally.

As part of our Redesigning Legal Speaker Series, IAALS and its partners will explore how lawyers, justice workers, and state bars are leading the charge against legal deserts.

On March 7, IAALS and The Chicago Bar Foundation delved into the root causes of access to justice issues for the middle class, featuring leaders who have successfully launched promising legal service delivery models.

On February 27, IAALS and The Chicago Bar Foundation examined the widespread access to justice crisis—which extends beyond low-income individuals to heavily impact the middle class and small businesses—and showcased how the newly launched Above the Line Network can bridge the gap for affordable legal services.

On February 1 at 11 a.m. MT, IAALS hosted "The Role of Allied Legal Professionals: Systems Change and How the Healthcare Industry Succeeded in Expanding Career Paths," the second of two webinars examining the shifting dynamics in legal services provision and advocating for an inclusive and consumer-focused approach to legal reforms.
