    IAALS has launched a virtual summit series, Paths to Justice, comprised of multiple invite-only virtual convenings as well as a series of webinars focusing on the paths of the pandemic, the paths to access, and the paths to racial justice that our system must walk in our new normal.

  • The US Justice Needs Study: 10,000 Voices

    The voices of over 10,000 people in the United States were heard with the launch of the US Justice Needs report on September 1, 2021. In this webinar, IAALS and HiiL shared the report, presented key data points, and spoke to the implications of this research—for those in the justice system, policymakers, and beyond.

  • Redesigning Legal Speaker Series

    Across the country, more and more jurisdictions are reimagining how to deliver and regulate legal services. IAALS and its partners are hosting a quarterly speaker series to provide a forum to learn about and discuss the regulatory changes underway, the challenges they face, and the opportunities they provide.

  • Pandemic Positives: Balancing Remote Services with In-Person Needs

    On March 25, IAALS hosted a webinar featuring Presiding Judge Clemens Landau of the Salt Lake City Justice Court and Sheriece Perry of the Massachusetts Trial Courts Office of Court Management, who discussed how their respective organizations were able to balance the necessity of remote services with their customers' in-person needs.

    On March 11, IAALS hosted a webinar featuring Carolyn Kim and Renato Izquieta of the Orange County Superior Court and Jeannie Sato of the Alaska Court System, who discussed how their respective organizations were able to successfully transform their in-person legal services into virtual services amid the pandemic—without expending significant resources.

    On February 3, 2021, IAALS hosted a webinar featuring Christine Miller of Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and Lollie Roberts of the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, who discussed how their respective organizations successfully kept the public up to date on the changes they were making in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    IAALS and the University of Denver Sturm College of Law co-hosted a speaker series—The Future of Legal Services—bringing together perspectives from the legal profession, academia, and state supreme courts—the regulators of legal services.

  • The Future of Legal Services: Professional Regulation and Federalism—Let’s Remove Access Barriers

    On December 9, IAALS co-hosted a virtual discussion with Dan Rodriguez, former dean of Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, on why our balkanized system of professional regulation makes it much more difficult to meet the demand for legal services, and how states can join together and offer more legal services to those in need without opening up the public to the risk of harm.
